Fall 2026 Goat Plans
Here’s a long-winded, ridiculous goat update.
I FINALLY got around to sending out Rusty’s hair for DNA testing yesterday so I can register Salem and Red. It should take a few weeks for that to come back.
Provided Salem is registered and I have her paperwork in hand, I may show her and BunBun at the Gwinnett County Fair in Lawrenceville, GA in September. Maybe just one of them since it'll be my first time ever showing goats. :v
Red will be joining the Walkerwoods crew in the near future.
I need to shave the girls and get glamour shots for the website.
Fall breeding plans:
Abby, Raja, and BunBun are definites. I need to weigh Salem, so if she’s at a decent weight, I may breeder her in October as well, since she’ll be at just a year.
I am picking up goat baby batter in Kentucky in early October, so at least Abby and Raja will be AI bred to Blue Eclipse Nigerian Dwarfs GCH Winning Streak CM Pop Rocks *B. I am hellaciously excited, and I hope I have some beginners’ luck with AI.
Because I only got 10 straws of guy goat goo, I am considering picking up another 5 straws to make sure BunBun and Salem are totally covered. I just need to make my decision on what buck to use ASAP so the mobile goat spank bank can put those straws into the delivery bin before they head out on their grand tour of the US collecting and dispersing the goods.
Rusty will play backup.
I will need all of the hopes, prayers, candles, smoke, whatever you got that Raja has a nice girl, since I really, really don’t want to breed her again. She’s fine, but since she contracted that meningeal worm a couple years ago, she has a harder time moving around when she’s super pregnant, and has a harder time keeping weight on. Nothing that’s insanely concerning, but I would prefer to keep it that way.
If she winds up having two doelings, honestly, I will probably keep both of them.
We’ll see how the other girls do and how their doelings are (provided, gods willing, everyone has girls), and I’ll see how many others I’d like to keep.
Next pick doeling is already spoken for, but if you’re looking for a nice buckling or any other doeling, let me know.
Am I going to regret having to hand milk 4 goats come March? Absolutely.
Am I going to do this anyway? Also absolutely.
